What Is Maalik About?
Set against the gritty backdrop of 1980s Allahabad, Maalik follows Deepak — a young man from a humble farming background who claws his way up to become a feared and formidable gangster. The film digs into ambition, betrayal, corruption, and how unchecked power reshapes both relationships and identity.
Rajkummar Rao leads a stacked ensemble cast including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, Huma Qureshi, Anshuman Pushkar, and Swanand Kirkire.
Did Maalik Perform Well at the Box Office?
Not quite. Against a reported budget of ₹54 crore, Maalik earned around ₹25.6 crore in India over 13 days — a number that had trade circles calling it an underperformer despite the film’s strong performances and dark, layered storytelling.
