Players Bought at IPL 2026 Mini-Auction
LSG executed a strategic approach at the December 16 auction, focusing on filling the void left by premier spinner Ravi Bishnoi and power-hitter David Miller.
Wanindu Hasaranga – The franchise secured the Sri Lankan all-rounder for his base price of Rs 2 crore, adding crucial spin bowling depth and lower-order batting firepower.
Key Pre-Auction Trades That Strengthened LSG
The franchise made two game-changing trades before the auction:
Mohammed Shami (from SRH): The experienced pace ace brings vital death-overs expertise and leadership to LSG’s bowling attack. His return from injury makes him a valuable asset.
Arjun Tendulkar (from MI): The young left-arm pacer adds depth to the pace bowling options, while Shardul Thakur moved to Mumbai Indians in exchange.
These strategic moves allowed LSG to address bowling concerns while preserving their auction purse for targeted buys.

The Road Ahead for LSG
After dominating in their inaugural seasons (playoffs in 2022 and 2023), LSG stumbled in the past two editions. The franchise’s biggest weakness was home performance—winning just two of seven matches in Lucknow during IPL 2025. With smart retentions and strategic additions, Pant’s squad aims to reverse this trend and challenge for their maiden IPL title.
