Lucknow Supergiants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a nail-biting thriller at the Eden Gardens by only one run. Though it was an incredible fight by KKR’s star play Rinku Singh, in the end, it was LSG who laughed the last laugh.
The match
KKR primarily won the toss and elected to field, and even started well in their bowling. No one was able to score more except Nicholas Pooran, who came and scored a brilliant 58 of 30 with five sixes and four fours. Thanks to his innings, LSG was able to put up a fighting total of 176 with the loss of 8 wickets.
KKR coming to bat at their time started well with the opening pair of Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer. Though for KKR also, only Jason Roy stood strong at first, and then Rinku Singh came in and nearly took KKR home with the win.
It seemed KKR were in an impossible situation to win the game in the last two overs when they needed over 40 runs, but Rinku, with his knock of 67 of 33 balls with six fours and four sixes, took the Knight Riders close to the win. However, things didn’t work out for them, and LSG qualified for the playoffs with their win.
LSG’s qualification
With this win, LSG has qualified for the playoffs and is the third team to secure this achievement this season. On the other hand, RCB, MI, and RR are still in the race for the last position in the playoffs, and it is to be seen who secures the spot. All of them have been good on their parts, but most likely, RCB has the maximum chance to qualify.
