Love vs. ₩150 Billion in Gold — Park Bo Young & Lee Hyun Wook’s K-Drama “Gold Land” Is Already Breaking Hearts

What would you choose — the person you love or 150 billion won worth of gold? That’s the impossible question at the heart of Disney+’s brand-new K-drama “Gold Land,” premiering today, April 29, 2026. With Park Bo Young and Lee Hyun Wook leading the cast, this is shaping up to be one of the most gripping thrillers of the year — and the newly released stills already confirm the tension is very, very real.

Gold Land: Drama Overview

The Story: Gold, Greed, and a Secret Relationship

Kim Hee Joo (Park Bo Young) is a security screening officer at an international airport — a woman just trying to leave a painful past behind. Then one day, a set of gold bars worth approximately $102 million (₩150 billion) lands in her hands, tied to an illegal smuggling ring. The people around her begin transforming under the weight of greed, and slowly, so does she.

Her secret boyfriend, Lee Do Kyung (Lee Hyun Wook), is the man who once stretched out a hand to help her — but as the gold becomes the center of both their worlds, his choices begin to tilt dangerously away from love and toward something darker. Their relationship, once tender, spirals into suspicion, dangerous bets, and an unpredictable collision of desire and loyalty.

It’s the kind of story that makes you genuinely unsure who to root for — and that’s exactly what makes it unmissable.

What the Stars Say?

Park Bo Young opened up about her character’s emotional state: Hee Joo doesn’t even know if she truly loved Do Kyung, or if she held onto him simply as an escape from her life. That kind of ambiguity is rare in K-drama leads and speaks to how layered this show will be.

Lee Hyun Wook described Do Kyung as someone for whom Hee Joo is both a final destination and a sanctuary — but whose choices could ultimately lead to the most dangerous outcome of all.

For fans of Disney+ Korean originals, Gold Land arrives as one of the platform’s most anticipated thrillers this season.
