“Love in Sync”: Kwon So Hyun’s Idol-to-Actress Villain Role Is the Most Psychologically Layered Character in This K-Drama Yet

Success, jealousy, and the complicated feelings you harbour towards someone you once stood beside on the same stage — “Love in Sync” just revealed its most intriguing character, and honestly? Han Yi Jin might be the most compelling person in the whole show.

The upcoming romantic comedy just dropped new details and stills for Kwon So Hyun’s role, and the character description alone is already sparking conversation online.

What Is “Love in Sync” About?

Love in Sync is a romantic comedy that follows a woman who refuses empathy and a man who carries too much of it. When they begin to share one another’s emotions through a surreal phenomenon, the two gradually come to understand one another and grow together.

The emotional-sharing premise is a clever, fantasy-tinged twist on the classic opposites-attract setup — giving the romance both comedy and genuine psychological depth.

Who Does Kwon So Hyun Play?

Kwon So Hyun plays Han Yi Jin — a former idol who was consistently overshadowed by groupmate Yoo Ji An (Kang Min Ah) during their time together and failed to shine. She later transitions into acting and rises to become an acclaimed, award-recognised actress. Despite her success, Han Yi Jin feels a sense of superiority when she sees Yoo Ji An — who is constantly embroiled in acting controversies — while simultaneously harbouring deep, hidden jealousy toward her former groupmate’s natural star quality. soompi

That duality — superiority masking jealousy — is the kind of quietly devastating character writing that elevates a K-drama from good to genuinely unforgettable. Kwon So Hyun has the acting range to do it full justice.

Why Kwon So Hyun Is Perfect for This Role?

Kwon So Hyun has steadily built her acting career through dramas including My Perfect Stranger, Love All Play, and Class of Lies — and Han Yi Jin’s complex inner conflict is expected to bring out a new, more intense dimension of her performance.

The idol-world rivalry layered beneath polished smiles and red-carpet glamour is fertile ground for storytelling — a world that Korean pop culture fans globally understand intimately, making this character feel both specific and universally resonant.
