Fresh off “DC,” is another team-up already brewing? Reports suggest Lokesh Kanagaraj and director Arun Matheswaran could be reuniting for a new project — this time with Lokesh once again stepping in front of the camera, and Anirudh Ravichander on music duty.

What’s Being Reported

According to a report from Track Tollywood, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Arun Matheswaran are gearing up to work together again, with Lokesh reportedly taking on the lead acting role once more. Anirudh Ravichander, who has become a recurring musical presence across several major South Indian films, is said to be attached to compose the score.

The project is expected to begin filming in late 2027 — but only after Lokesh wraps his next directorial venture, a high-profile collaboration with Allu Arjun tentatively titled “AA23.” It’s worth noting that none of this has been officially confirmed by the makers, so details should be treated as developing.

The DC Connection

This potential reunion follows closely on the heels of “DC,” which released in theaters on August 7, 2026, and marked Lokesh Kanagaraj’s debut as a lead actor rather than solely a director. The film follows Devadas, a rebel navigating systemic hardship alongside his crew, whose life changes course after he crosses paths with Chandra, a woman escaping her own troubled past. Loosely inspired by the classic novel Devdas, the film blends intense action with high-stakes survival drama.

“DC” starred Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy as co-leads and was produced under Sun Pictures. Early box office numbers have reportedly been strong, with the film crossing Rs 30 crore within its first four days.

Lokesh’s Packed Work Schedule

Before any new Arun Matheswaran project can move forward, Lokesh has plenty on his plate. He most recently directed “Coolie,” an action thriller starring Rajinikanth that followed Deva’s investigation into his friend’s suspicious death, uncovering a dangerous crime network along the way. The film also featured Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj in key roles.

Looking ahead, Lokesh’s next major directorial is “AA23,” his collaboration with Allu Arjun. The announcement teaser reportedly hinted at a stylish, Western-inspired aesthetic, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music — marking his first-ever collaboration with Allu Arjun. Reports also suggest Pooja Hegde may be attached as the female lead, though this remains unconfirmed.

What’s Next

With Lokesh’s schedule already stacked through his Allu Arjun project, any reunion with Arun Matheswaran realistically won’t begin production before late 2027. Fans will likely need to wait for official confirmation before treating this as more than a strong industry rumor.
