Liverpool 2-2 Manchester City: Four goals in the second half as points shared at Anfield

Liverpool and Manchester City played out a 2-2 thriller at Anfield, with both teams sharing points after a brilliant game of football.

The first half of the game saw Manchester City take charge of the proceedings at Anfield. Pep Guardiola’s men had the best of chances in the opening half, but only managed one shot on target. Liverpool, on the other hand, found it difficult to keep the ball and threaten Ederson.

The Brazilian keeper created his own share of chances in the first half especially after releasing Joao Cancelo on the left flank. The hosts gave the ball away cheaply, and while Phil Foden was absolutely brilliant on the left wing, they could not find a breakthrough.

The other side of half time saw a completely different game being played. Liverpool registered their first shot on target 50 minutes into the game, and Sadio Mane gave the team the lead after being played in by Mo Salah.

The Senegalese winger’s goal would be cancelled out by Phil Foden, who was found free on the left flank, and finished clinically to beat Alisson. In another dramatic turn of events, Mo Salah netted one of the candidates for goal of the season by dribbling past Joao Cancelo, and shooting past Ederson on his weaker foot to make it 2-1.

Shortly after, Kevin De Bruyne’s effort from long range took a deflection off of Joel Matip and found the back of the net to make it 2-2 with about ten minutes of regulation time left.

The final few minutes of the game were just as exciting, with turnover after turnover for both sides. However, neither one was able to find the decisive goal to seal all three points after a magical fixture.
