Lionel Messi’s father smashes 3 fake news reports amidst PSG contract uncertainty

Speculation about Lionel Messi’s future has been rife in the last few weeks. The Argentina skipper reportedly received a big money offer from Saudi Arabia and Al Hilal. But, there were rumours that Messi demanded a €600 million salary from them for the move.

That, and two other stories have been denied by the player’s father, who also works as his agent. The winger did not walk out of a training session on Tuesday over problems with manager Christophe Galtier. And he also denied PSG not being willing to accept demands for a new contract.

Lionel Messi future uncertain amidst contract ambiguity

There was a verbal agreement between Lionel Messi and PSG to continue for the coming years prior to the World Cup. However, Jorge Messi and PSG haven’t been able to iron out the details to settle the contract negotiations.

Right now, the 35-year-old wants to understand his role in the squad before committing to the French capital. He was strongly criticised recently for his performance in PSG’s Champions League exit against Bayern Munich in the Round of 16.

There has also been speculation about whether he will be booed by the PSG ultras for this reason. And with the board reportedly wanting another clearout this summer, it will be interesting to see if the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner continues in France.

There has also been interest from his former club, Barcelona, for a return. But, the Catalonian side will need to reduce their wage bill by €200 million to simply register Ronald Araujo and Gavi’s new contracts. So, a return for the club legend seems unlikely this summer as things stand.
