The latest Messi transfer news sees Al Hilal finally make a formal offer to the PSG forward for a free transfer in the summer. The forward is out of a contract at the end of the season, and hasn’t committed to any club as of yet.

Al Hilal’s proposal weighs heavily on the financial aspect, valued at over €400 million per year. However, his priority is to stay in Europe at least until the Copa America in 2024.

PSG are also keen on keeping the player, since he already had a verbal agreement to renew after the World Cup. Their proposal is of the same salary as he is on right now. But, Messi wants more details on the sporting project for the coming season before choosing to extend.

Lastly, his former club, Barcelona are also trying to bring him back in the summer. However, they are facing very strict financial fair play restrictions and could be ruled out from signing any players.

La Liga have asked Barcelona to cut down on their expenses by €200 million this summer. And with these restrictions, it could be difficult for them to bring their club icon back. The decision is now Lionel Messi’s to make, since he has several offers from clubs.

The intention is to stay in Europe right now, and taking that into consideration, it’s either Barcelona or PSG as things stand.
