Lenovo has patented a new laptop with an Extendable Camera

Lenovo: Office workers’ work habits saw a huge change during the Covid-19 outbreak as the majority switched to remote work. However, consumers also faced a problem with the positioning and quality of their laptop cameras in addition to their increased reliance on video conferencing. Inconveniently, these cameras are frequently positioned low and out of the user’s line of sight. As a result, during online sessions, conference attendees frequently had an unfavourable bottom-up perspective of one another.

Lenovo has acknowledged this problem as well and has invented a new extensible camera for laptops that may resolve it. The camera may be extended out to provide a better view of the person seated in front of the screen. It is placed in a slot on the top of the laptop screen.

This would be a significant improvement over the location of laptop cameras as they are currently, which frequently sit at the top of the screen and only offer a dim view of the user’s face. Whether they are standing up or seated at a desk, customers could place the extended camera wherever best served their purposes.

For individuals who stream online using a face cam, the extensible camera from Lenovo might be helpful.

Currently, a second webcam is required for many streamers, which can be difficult to set up and operate. Streamers might save time and effort by using the same webcam for video conferencing and streaming if it had an extended lens.

Of course, the extended camera has its shortcomings. The laptop screen would need to be thicker in order to fit the camera, which is the first disadvantage. The laptop would become a little bit heavier and less portable as a result.

The camera could easily be destroyed if it is not extended or retracted properly, which is the second downside. Lenovo has stated that a locking mechanism will be incorporated into the camera’s design to stop it from being unintentionally extended or retracted.

In conclusion, this pen-camera is a fantastic new technological advancement that could enhance your video conferencing experience. Although it is still too soon to determine whether or when Lenovo will actually release a laptop with this capability, it is surely something to keep an eye out for.
