If you thought a detective hunting a serial killer was intense enough, imagine doing it shoulder-to-shoulder with the very man who made your life miserable back in school. That’s the gut-punch premise of ENA’s upcoming thriller The Scarecrow — and already, it has every K-drama fan’s full attention.

The Scarecrow: Overview

The Setup That Has Everyone Hooked

The Scarecrow follows a detective investigating a series of murders who is forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he despises — a suspenseful story tracking two men bound by misfortune and an uneasy alliance of hatred as they chase the truth across 30 years.

It’s the kind of premise that hits differently. Not just because of the murder mystery, but because of the deeply personal wound underneath it all.

Meet the Characters

Park Hae Soo plays Kang Tae Joo, an ace detective known for his sharp powers of observation and keen instinct, who gets demoted and transferred from Seoul back to his hometown of Gangseong — where he’s assigned to a serial murder case.

Lee Hee Joon plays Cha Si Young, an elite prosecutor known for his coolheaded judgment and political savvy, who hopes to use the Gangseong serial murder case as a stepping stone into politics — until he hits one major stumbling block: the detective assigned to the case is a former classmate he once bullied.

The man he tormented is now his only shot at success. Poetic? Absolutely. Uncomfortable? Even more so.

The Poster Says It All

The newly released poster highlights the hateful tension between the two men, whose bitter history stretches all the way back to their youth — with the caption teasing a “crime investigation drama” built on a “hateful alliance.”

Two men. One killer. Zero trust. This is what a truly compelling crime drama looks like.
