Inter Milan have successfully defended their Coppa Italia by winning 2-1 against Fiorentina in the 2023 final. They have now won the domestic cup nine teams, going level with Roma.
For Someone Inzaghi, it is a sixth managerial trophy, having won the Coppa Italia with Lazio in 2018/19, before winning it consecutively with Inter. The Nerazzurri also won the Supercopa this season, defeating their rivals, Milan 3-0 in the finals.
Inter win Coppa Italia 2023 after producing comeback against Fiorentina
Fiorentina were ahead in the game within three minutes, courtesy of an early goal from Nico Gonzalez. However, Inter skipper Lautaro Martinez scored a first half brace to overturn the deficit and put his side ahead by 2-1.
The striker has been in remarkable form during the final phase of the season, and is also one of the top scorers in the league. With his brace last night, he hit 101 goals for the black and blue side in 235 appearances.
The defending champions were resolute in keeping the Viola out, in spite of several chances being created in their favour. Fiorentina will be disappointed at having lost the lead, but put up a strong display against a determined lineup. They have a chance to win the Europa Conference League, with the finals against West Ham United coming up in a few days.
Inter also have the Champions League final to play, and have a chance to win a treble, albeit without the Serie A title.
