All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das has officially resigned from the long-term post citing medical reasons.
Kushal Das was the General Secretary of the Indian football governing body since 2010. So, he was in that important post for more than a decade. Before taking up that AIFF role, the former International Management Group (IMG) India and Korea Chief Financial Officer (CFO) also spent around two years in the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a CFO.
Currently, the former SC Judge Justice Anil R Dave-led three-member Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) is handling the AIFF’s daily affairs after Praful Patel-led AIFF Executive Committee was dissolved due to violation of the government’s sports code and other statutes.
Soon after the appointment of CoA, Das was on leave due to health reasons from 20th June 2022. Now, he has officially resigned from the General Secretary post of the AIFF.
AIFF has confirmed it through the official website. It stated, “Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary of All India Football Federation has resigned from his post citing medical reasons.”
Through that same statement, AIFF also confirmed that Mr. Sunando Dhar is now Acting General Secretary of this national football governing body. He is now responsible for the day-to-day administration of the AIFF.
Kushal Das faced criticisms and controversies
During his long-term General Secretary tenure, Das received many criticisms, including his involvement in some controversies.
Recently, Das was accused of a charge of molestation of women employees. Later, the AIFF Internal Complaints Committee and integrity officer gave him a clean chit. However, the Indian football governing body faced massive criticism due to their quick decision on that as Ranjit Bajaj fumed over that decision. Later, the AIFF asked Bajaj to submit proper documentary evidence within 15 days.
