Just when fans had made peace with saying goodbye to Knokke’s sun-soaked secrets and designer drama, Netflix pulled off a surprise that nobody saw coming — literally. The beloved Belgian-Dutch teen series High Tides (Knokke Off) is officially returning as a feature-length movie, and the way it was announced is almost as dramatic as the show itself.

The Most Belgian Announcement Ever
Netflix didn’t send out a press release. There was no trailer drop, no social media campaign. Instead, during a live concert at the AFAS Dome, lead star and pop sensation Pommelien Thijs was ambushed on stage by her fellow cast members. They crashed the set brandishing a giant sign that read “Pommelien, vergeet je niets?” — which translates to “Pommelien, aren’t you forgetting something?”
The crowd went absolutely wild. Thijs later confirmed on Instagram that the film is officially in production, with a clapper on stage bearing the words KNOKKE OFF: DE FILM and Netflix’s logo clearly visible. It’s exactly the kind of chaotic, dramatic energy that made the show a cult favourite in the first place.
What Is High Tides About?
If you haven’t binged it yet, here’s your cue. High Tides is a teen drama series set in Knokke, Belgium’s most exclusive coastal resort town. Think Gossip Girl with Flemish flair — a glittering world of privilege, designer parties, and summer romance hiding a very dark underbelly of secrets, manipulation, and personal crises.
The show debuted on Netflix in December 2023 and quickly became a bingeable sensation. Season 3, which wrapped up on April 3, 2026, still managed to pull 1.6 million views in its first week — impressive for what was supposed to be a series finale.
The Core Cast
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Pommelien Thijs | Lead — real-life pop star turned actress |
| Willem De Schryver | Series regular |
| Anna Drijver | Series regular |
| Eliyha Altena | Series regular |
| Geert Van Rampelberg | Series regular |
| Daan Schuurmans | Season 3 addition |
| Nola Elvis Kemper | Season 3 addition |
Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the returning cast for the film yet, but given the on-stage reunion stunt, a core cast comeback seems all but guaranteed.
Why This Is Such a Big Deal?
High Tides is one of those rare non-English Netflix originals that crossed cultural borders purely on the strength of its storytelling and raw cast chemistry. A movie continuation signals that Netflix sees real long-term franchise potential here — similar to how they’ve extended beloved European shows into film format before. For fans in Belgium and the Netherlands, this is huge. And for global audiences who discovered it through the algorithm, it’s the best possible news.
