Kim Woo Bin Can See Talent at a Glance in “GIFT,” and the First Poster Shows How

What would you do if you could look at someone and instantly know how good they are? That’s the hook of tvN’s upcoming drama “GIFT,” and its first poster gives fans a fun look at the premise.

GIFT: The Story

According to Soompi, “GIFT” is based on a popular webtoon. It follows a former professional baseball pitching coach who gains a special ability after an unexpected accident, and ends up leading a high school team that’s ranked last in the nation.

Kim Woo Bin plays Jung Min Yong. In the pro leagues, he believed in the power of effort and process. After the accident, he can see a person’s baseball talent with a single glance. That changes everything about how he thinks.

What the Poster Shows?

The first poster features Jung Min Yong standing confidently on the baseball field, looking straight at the camera. Around him, rating cards float above the players’ heads. It’s a clever visual: it hints at the power he gains, much like a video game showing character stats.

The poster’s caption says the answers have started to appear before his eyes. That line sums up the show’s central idea in one sentence.

Why This Premise Works?

Sports dramas are built on a simple promise: an underdog team, a determined coach and a slow climb. “GIFT” adds a twist to that familiar recipe. If the coach can see who has talent, will he still believe in hard work? Or will the gift make him doubt everything he used to value?

That tension between effort and natural ability is what gives the story its heart. It’s a question most of us have asked ourselves at some point, whether in sports, school or work.

What To Do Before December 5?

• Watch the teaser: Soompi links to a teaser for the drama, which is a good way to get a feel for the tone.
• Catch up on Kim Woo Bin: His film “Alienoid: Return to the Future” is available on Viki.
• Set a reminder: The premiere airs on a Saturday evening in Korea, and works out to late afternoon in India.

Conclusion

“GIFT” has a premise that’s easy to describe and hard to resist. A coach with a superpower, a team at rock bottom and a lead actor people are excited to see in a new role: that’s a strong combination. If the show balances humour with heart, it could be a winter favourite.
