Kerala Blasters 2-2 ATK Mohun Bagan: 3 talking points from intense draw

Kerala Blasters and ATK Mohun Bagan had to settle for a 2-2 draw after an intense battle between the two teams. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

Game of the tournament?

We have had teams lose after scoring five goals, and have also had dominant one-sided games, but this one was an absolute firecracker despite being a draw. With only seconds to go on the clock, Joni Kauko was able to equalise for ATK Mohun Bagan with only ten men on the pitch after Prabir Das was sent off for a challenge on Adrian Luna.

The match had nine cards shown during the game, two of which were red. Alongside the players, the two benches were having heated exchanges during the game as well. As a result, it was an intense 90+ minutes for everybody involved.

Adrian Luna scores two golazos

The first goal of the night saw the Uruguayan shoot an unstoppable free-kick, from well outside the box. However, the second goal was the real eye-catcher. Luna found himself unchallenged at the edge of the box and shot a dipping effort over the head of Amrinder to give his side the lead once again in the game.

What it means for ATK Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters’ top four hopes

While Kerala Blasters had several chances to make it 3-1 in the game, they were unlucky and hence, unable to create the advantage. ATK Mohun Bagan remain in second place with a game in hand, one point behind Hyderabad FC. On the other hand, Kerala Blasters are in fourth place, two points clear of defending champions Mumbai City FC.
