Record reaking Feat in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Representing Vidarbha in the ongoing VHT, Nair’s historic milestone came during a Group D match against Uttar Pradesh. Walking in at 63-1 while chasing a daunting 308, Nair crafted a brilliant knock of 112* in partnership with Yash Rathod, who scored 138*. Their unbroken 228-run stand powered Vidarbha to victory with 16 balls to spare.

Nair’s stunning run of scores – 100*, 111*, 163*, 44*, and 112* – culminated in his record-breaking streak of 542 runs between dismissals. This eclipses New Zealand’s James Franklin, who previously held the record with 527 runs in 2010. Here’s a look at the top performers in this category:

Form of a Lifetime

The 33 year old Nair has been in sublime form, cementing his reputation as one of the most consistent batters in domestic cricket. Beyond the VHT, he had a stellar Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) season, scoring 255 runs with a strike rate of 177.08. Earlier this year, in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, Nair amassed 560 runs across 12 matches at a strike rate of 181.22, including an unbeaten 124.

What This Means for Delhi Capitals

Despite a lackluster IPL career so far, Karun Nair’s domestic exploits make a strong case for his inclusion in the Delhi Capitals’ playing XI. Bought at the IPL 2025 auction for ₹50 lakh, Nair brings experience, stability, and an unrelenting hunger for runs. As DC looks to strengthen its batting lineup, Nair’s consistent form could make him a valuable asset in the upcoming season.

Karun Nair’s remarkable run has not only reignited his cricketing career but also added fresh intrigue to Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 campaign. With world records to his name and a purple patch that shows no signs of fading, Nair might just be the key to DC’s success this season.
