Karim Benzema becomes the 4th-highest goalscorer of all time in UCL

Karim Benzema has established himself as one of the top scorers in the Champions League, with two consecutive hat-tricks in the knockout stages.

Following his sensational second-half performance to help Real Madrid eliminate PSG after being 2-0 goals down, the Frenchman repeated his goalscoring performance.

He went on to thrash defending European champions Chelsea at their home ground, ending the first leg with a 3-1 advantage. The forward scored two headed goals and pounced on Edouard Mendy’s poor error with the ball at his feet to get three goals to his name.

Karim Benzema now has 82 goals in the Champions League

The Real Madrid number 9 has surpassed Raul in the list of the all-time goalscoring charts in the Champions League. He is now the fourth-highest goalscorer of all-time in the competition, with 82 to his name. Karim Benzema is only three goals behind Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

This season, the Frenchman has enjoyed his best ever return, scoring 11 goals in 8 games. He stands behind Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the list of the highest ever goalscorers in the top flight of Europe.

The 34-year-old is making a strong case for himself as the best player in Europe. His performances for Real Madrid in every competition have been outstanding. And he would be a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or if Real Madrid can win the Champions League along with La Liga.
