Headlined by Prabhas, the much-anticipated cop-action thriller is set to begin filming in the first quarter of 2025, targeting a 2026 theatrical release. According to exclusive reports, Bollywood heavyweights Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Mrunal Thakur are in talks to join the project.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Next: A Mega Star-Studded Cop Thriller in the Making

Sources close to the development have revealed that Mrunal Thakur is being considered for the lead female role opposite Prabhas. “Spirit is the most ambitious and awaited film of Indian Cinema, and the makers are going all out to have the best and most talented actors of world cinema on board the film. While Prabhas is locked to play the role of a cop, the conversations are in progress with Mrunal Thakur, Saif Ali Khan, and Kareena Kapoor, with the latter two for the negative turn,” a source informed.

This marks an exciting collaboration as the pairing of Kareena and Saif, one of Bollywood’s most iconic real-life couples, will reportedly have negative undertones in Spirit. The duo is set to break new ground as they portray antagonistic roles, a first in their careers. Their dynamic in the film is expected to captivate audiences with its novelty.

A Genre-Bending Cop Thriller

Described as a one-of-its-kind action-packed drama, Spirit aims to revolutionize the cop-film genre in Indian cinema. Insiders reveal that Vanga’s vision transcends conventional storytelling, introducing characters that embody both light and shade. The source elaborated, “It’s a story like never before, in the template of a commercial Indian Film. There are good people and bad people in the tale, but with a lot of elements of grey that Vanga is known for. Every character has a purpose, and it’s among the most ambitious films for Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The writing work and prep is going on in full swing, and the ones who have heard the narration inform that Vanga is going to reintroduce Prabhas like never before in Spirit.”

Prabhas, who has enjoyed immense success in pan-India films, will essay the role of a tough and intense police officer. Vanga’s ability to present his lead actors in a completely new light has already generated considerable buzz, and fans eagerly await Prabhas’ transformation in Spirit.

Saif and Kareena’s Never-Seen-Before Dynamic

The report further suggests that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s roles will bring a fresh twist to the narrative. “It’s the first time that a real-life couple will be playing a negative role as a couple in a feature film. The two will also have a lot of action to do alongside Prabhas and other members. The paperwork for all the talents is yet to be done, as the discussions for monetary terms are underway,” the source concluded.

The inclusion of such an impressive ensemble, combined with Vanga’s unique storytelling style, sets Spirit apart as a project to watch. Known for his bold and intense filmmaking, Vanga is determined to raise the bar even higher with this action-packed drama.

Vision Backed by Bhushan Kumar

Produced by Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner, alongside Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit promises to deliver a visual and narrative spectacle. Bhushan Kumar’s unwavering backing of Vanga’s creative vision underscores the film’s scale and ambition.

With Spirit set to redefine the cop-action genre, the pre-production process is currently progressing at full speed. Fans are especially eager to see Prabhas in this transformative role, while the addition of Mrunal Thakur, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan elevates the film’s star power.

Post-Spirit Plans for Sandeep Reddy Vanga

While Spirit will dominate 2025 for Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director already has plans lined up post its completion. After calling it a wrap on Spirit, Vanga will collaborate with Ranbir Kapoor once again for Animal Park, scheduled to begin filming in 2027. With back-to-back high-profile projects in the pipeline, Vanga’s cinematic universe continues to expand, solidifying his position as one of the most sought-after filmmakers in the industry.
