It’s not every day a club plays itself. Juventus vs Juventus Next Gen U23 is exactly that — a unique pre-season family affair where Max Allegri’s (or the current gaffer’s) senior stars line up against their own academy graduates. It’s less about rivalry and more about scouting the future of Turin football, live in real time.

Why This Fixture Matters
Unlike a typical rivalry clash, this one’s a talent showcase. Juventus’s senior squad gets valuable match sharpness ahead of the new season, while Juventus Next Gen U23 — the club’s official reserve team competing in Italy’s lower divisions — gets a rare shot to test themselves against first-team quality. For scouts and fans alike, it’s often the best early look at who might get promoted to the senior squad next.
Team News and Lineups
Official lineups for both sides typically drop around an hour before kickoff. Expect the senior Juventus side to rotate heavily, giving fringe players and returning loanees valuable minutes, while the U23 side fields its strongest available group to make the most of the occasion. Keep an eye on Sofascore’s lineup tab closer to kickoff for confirmed XIs.
Prediction
Given the experience gap, Juventus’s first team should have the edge in quality even with a rotated squad. That said, these fixtures are as much about individual performances and fitness building as they are about the scoreline, so don’t be surprised by a closer contest than the team sheets suggest.
