Jumanji: The Game Was Never Meant to Leave the Jungle, and Now It Has

Surviving Jumanji once is luck. Surviving it three times is a habit. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are back for what’s billed as one last adventure, and the new trailer for Jumanji: Open World shows the danger leaving the screen and walking into the real world.

Jumanji: Open World

What the Trailer Shows

In earlier films, the heroes entered the game. Here, it comes to them. Jumanji’s characters and dangers enter reality, and the lines between the digital world and the real one start to blur. After surviving the game’s challenges before, the team now faces a threat unlike anything they’ve seen, which sets up a chaotic new mission. See the series’ background on Wikipedia.

The Returning Team

The much-loved ensemble is back:

• Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan lead.
• Nick Jonas returns.
• Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Rhys Darby, and Danny DeVito also appear.

Jake Kasdan returns as director, with Matt Tolmach, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia among the producers.

The Road So Far

Why It’s a Good Christmas Pick

A Christmas Day release makes this a natural family outing. The jungle-game idea is already familiar, and taking it into the real world raises the stakes and the jokes. For fans of the series, it’s also a farewell with the full cast together.
