One of the craziest transfer saga in recent years is finally close to completion. Jules Kounde is nearing a move to Barcelona after a thorough war between Barca and Chelsea for the Sevilla player.
The Premier League club made a £55 million offer to Sevilla for the French central defender. However, they have held up the bid for several days, after reports that a transfer to Chelsea was almost done. And now, it looks like Barcelona will be winning the race for him instead.
Jules Kounde transfer to Barcelona nearing completion
Personal terms have been agreed between Barcelona and Jules Kounde over a four-year deal. Even though it pays less than Chelsea’s offer, Xavi’s sporting project appears to be more convincing to the 23-year-old.
Contact with the Barcelona manager has also helped to convince him, especially with Xavi promising him that he will be first-choice in the line-up.
As a result of the delay, Chelsea are looking at other targets in case they are unable to go through with the move for Kounde. The transfer saga is eerily close to the one that took place for Raphinha only a few weeks ago.
The Brazilian winger wanted a move to Barcelona over a move to Chelsea, and pushed for a move to Camp Nou even though there was a better offer on the table from the Club World Cup winners.
