JioAirFiber is expected to open up a $7–10 billion revenue opportunity, according to international stockbroker Jefferies, since it may encourage broadband adoption among 85 million Pay-TV homes that do not already have internet connection.
In a note, Jefferies increased by 1% to 2% its forecasts for Reliance Industries’ combined Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization). The firm has increased its ‘BUY’-rated target price from 2,955 to 2,975.
Last week, JioAirFiber was introduced in eight significant Indian cities.
Given that it includes content from more than 550 TV channels and 14 OTT apps across all of its plans and doesn’t provide any plans that only provide internet access, Jio has positioned JioAirfiber as a home entertainment solution.
According to their fiber-to-the-home service, JioAirfiber provides download and upload speeds between 30 and 1000 Mbps. According to Jefferies, JioAirFiber is priced similarly to JioFiber, indicating that both services will provide a comparable experience. According to the brokerage, Jio’s fixed wireless access pricing offers a 25% lower starting point than Bharti Airtel’s $799 plan.
It is reported that rural or semi-urban Pay-TV households spending $200–400 per month for TV may require some encouragement to move to JioAirFiber.
In India, there are 319 million households overall, but there are 35 million internet households and 120 million pay-TV households. Jio will be able to properly determine content watching habits thanks to its access to over 30 million affluent homes making it a key player in India’s $4 billion TV ad industry.
In eight cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune on Ganesh Chaturthi, Reliance Jio launched Jio AirFiber services on September 19. Jio AirFiber will do away with the requirement for last-mile fiber by utilizing Jio’s nationwide 5G network and wireless technology.
The Jio AirFiber plans range in price from 599 for 30 Mbps of internet speed to 1,199 for 100 Mbps. Starting at $1,499 for a 300 Mbps speed, $2,499 for a 500 Mbps speed, and $3,999 for a 1,000 Mbps speed, the AirFiber Max package is available.
RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said at RIL’s 46th annual general meeting that JioFiber, the company’s wired internet service, has surpassed 10 million users nationwide.
