A Record-Setting Debut

According to Jennie’s agency OA Entertainment, “Less than a Lover” has now topped iTunes charts in more regions than any other K-pop solo release in 2026. That’s not a slow climb — the song hit No. 1 in dozens of countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brazil, within just 24 hours of dropping.

Dominating Every Screen, Not Just the Charts

Beyond audio streaming, the music video itself became the top trending video on YouTube worldwide, while also claiming the No. 1 spot in both South Korea and the United States individually. That kind of simultaneous global reach — audio charts and video charts moving together — is exactly what separates a hit single from a genuine cultural moment.

China’s Triple Crown

“Less than a Lover” didn’t stop at Western platforms either. The song swept to No. 1 on three major Chinese platforms — QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and KuGou Music — all at once, while also landing at No. 2 on Melon’s Hot 100 back home in Korea.
