Bumrah Equals Malinga’s Iconic MI Wicket Record

With Klaasen’s wicket, Bumrah reached 170 IPL wickets for Mumbai Indians, equalling the legendary Lasith Malinga’s record. Malinga had long held the record for most wickets for MI in the Indian Premier League, having reached 170 scalps in 122 games. Bumrah, on the other hand, took 138 matches to reach the same mark.

Though Malinga still edges Bumrah in terms of average and strike rate, this milestone symbolizes a passing of the torch. The Sri Lankan legend mentored Bumrah during the early years, and now the apprentice stands shoulder to shoulder with his master.
