The January transfer window provides clubs with a chance to bolster their squad for the last six months of the season. While it isn’t as talked about as the summer window, this year saw a number of big deals go through.

So, here are the top five most expensive deals that went through in the 2022 January transfer window.

Top 5 most expensive 2022 January transfer window deals

5. Lucas Digne – €30 million to Aston Villa

4. Bruno Guimaraes – €42.1 million to Newcastle United

Bruno Guimaraes was signed by Newcastle United during the last couple of days of the transfer window. The Brazilian defensive midfielder is arguably the most valuable addition to the squad in terms of squad role despite their business during the January transfer window.

3. Luis Diaz – €45 million to Liverpool

A transfer that has been anticipated for a long time, the Porto winger finally made the move to Liverpool. Add-ons could drive the price of the deal up to €65 million if all of the clauses are met.

2. Ferran Torres – €55 million to Barcelona

Torres was one of the first January transfer window signings to be announced, and among the best deals to be made midseason. He has already gotten off the mark, and could be a huge star for Barcelona in the years ahead.
