Jamshedpur FC 3-0 Kerala Blasters: 3 talking points as Stewart brace sends JFC to 2nd place

Jamshedpur FC defeated Kerala Blasters 3-0 in the ISL, to take a big step towards winning the league title. Here are the three key talking points from the fixture.

Penalty merchant

Greg Stewart took his goal tally to 7 this season, after converting twice from the spot on either side of half time. The Scottish forward sent the keeper the wrong way the first time, after being brought down rashly in the penalty area.

His second spot kick was a calm panenka effort that doubled Jamshedpur FC’s lead only three minutes into the second half. He has now been named the Hero of the Match on six occasions this season.

No-show Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters were pushed back right from the very start, and despite having 50% possession by the end of the game, they were unable to make much happen with it. They only had two shots on target throughout the game, and were unable to truly grow into the match and threaten the opposition goalkeeper.

As a result, KBFC’s chances of making it into the top four have taken a hit.

Jamshedpur FC’s top spot inching closer

With the big win against Kerala Blasters today, Jamshedpur FC have 25 points from 14 games. They are only one point behind league leaders Hyderabad FC, who have 26 points from 15 games. With 3 points still to play for, it seems only a matter of time before the Men of Steel are at the top of the table.
