James Maddison is now a Tottenham Hotspur player after making the move from Leicester City in a £40 million deal. The player has agreed to a five-year contract with Spurs until 2028, and his arrival has been made official.

Maddison spent five years with Leicester, making 203 appearances for them. He scored 55 goals and provided 41 assists for them, and guided them to two domestic trophies before deciding to move on to a bigger challenge.

The attacking midfielder has become the second new signing of the summer for the Lilywhites after the arrival of new goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The Foxes were relegated at the end of 2022/23 and will have to offload several players to balance their books. The likes of Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu have left the club for free. But, as Maddison is still under contract, he has been sold for a fee to play in the top flight.

Newcastle United were also interested in signing the Englishman. But, Spurs have moved fast to close the deal with Leicester for their star midfielder.

This past season, he scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for the club in 30 games. In spite of his contributions, they could stay up and avoid the drop after an uncharacteristically poor season.

Over the course of his career with Leicester, he won the FA Cup in 2021 and the Community Shield shortly after. But with Spurs, James Maddison is now set to take up a new challenge under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
