Unprecedented Unity: Italy and Turkey Join Hands for Euro 2032 – Boosting UK and Ireland’s Hopes for 2028

Italy and Turkey Join Hands for Euro 2032: In a historic move, the football world witnessed a remarkable display of unity as the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) put aside competition to forge a joint bid for Euro 2032. This extraordinary collaboration has not only reshaped the landscape for the 2032 championship but also holds implications for the UK and Republic of Ireland’s bid for Euro 2028.

Let’s have a look into the details of this groundbreaking development: Italy and Turkey Join Hands for Euro 2032

The Birth of a Joint Bid

Both Italy and Turkey had initially submitted individual bids to host Euro 2032. However, in a surprising twist, they have come together to form a powerful joint bid, presenting UEFA with an unprecedented proposal.

Affecting the 2028 Race

Turkey’s joint bid with Italy for Euro 2032 may impact the UK and Republic of Ireland’s hopes of hosting Euro 2028. With Turkey’s solo bid remaining as a rival to the five-nation candidature, the UK and Ireland offer a compelling proposition for 2028.

Favorable Comparison with Past Events

The FIGC emphasized the success of previous joint bids, like the upcoming 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, as well as the UK and Republic of Ireland’s bid for 2028. This trend signifies an inclusive approach, involving a broader fan base and striving for more efficient and sustainable event planning.

UEFA’s Involvement

UEFA has acknowledged the joint bid and expressed its commitment to working with both the Turkish and Italian federations to ensure compliance with bidding requirements. The proposal will be presented to the UEFA Executive Committee on October 10, where the hosts for both Euro 2028 and 2032 will be decided.

Impact on Turkey’s Bid for Euro 2028

While Turkey’s joint bid with Italy is under consideration, they are likely to wait for its approval before formally withdrawing their bid for Euro 2028. If accepted, the UK and Republic of Ireland would have an unopposed offer for the 2028 tournament.

Italy and Turkey’s Football History

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome has a rich history with European Championships, having hosted the tournament in 1968 and 1980. Meanwhile, Turkey’s hosting credentials include the Champions League Final between Manchester City and Inter Milan at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

The convergence of Italy and Turkey in a joint bid for Euro 2032 has undoubtedly marked a historic turning point for continental football. This extraordinary alliance not only raises hopes for a fantastic Euro 2032 tournament but also holds significance for the host selection of Euro 2028. As the football world eagerly awaits UEFA’s decision on October 10, one thing is certain – this remarkable unity has brought the spirit of collaboration to the forefront, shaping the future of European football championships.
