ISL: 3 points from Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters’ 1-1 draw

Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters played out a 1-1 draw in the ISL, sharing a point each in the process. Here are the three talking points from the game.

Ashiqur Kuruniyan’s eventful game

The left-back scored an outstanding goal from long range to open the scoring for Bengaluru. Albino Gomez got his body behind the shot, but was unable to keep the ball over the line.

On the other end, though, he would score an own goal that would make things level all over again, very late in the game.

Better defense from Bengaluru

Bengaluru have conceded six goals so far in the league, which is the joint-worst alongside FC Goa, who are last in the table. Against Kerala Blasters, the defensive performance was quite improved, except, of course, the own goal.

Their opponents were denied a clear chance at scoring time and time again. So, there is something to be happy about for Bengaluru, but they will have to build on it in the games to come.

Winless, still

Kerala Blasters are yet to win their first game in the ISL this season, with two draws from their three games so far. Despite their chances to pull the game in their favour, the team was unable to make a clear impact going forward.

Kerala Blasters’ search for a win takes them to face Odisha FC next, while Bengaluru have a huge task ahead. They face reigning champions Mumbai City FC in their next fixture in the ISL.
