Is There a “Right Answer” to Love? Kim So Hyun and Choo Young Woo’s New Drama Asks in “Between Steps”

A quiet lecture hall, a raised hand, and a question that lingers in the air — the new poster for ENA’s upcoming romance drama Between Steps sets a strikingly intimate tone for a love story built on second chances and unexpected connection.

Between Steps: Premise

Between Steps tells the story of two people finding their way back to themselves — and to each other — in graduate school. Park Min Jae (played by Choo Young Woo) is a former swimmer who lost his right leg due to illness, now redirecting his discipline into research. Im Yoo Jin (played by Kim So Hyun) is a graduate student whose academic future collapses when she’s suddenly branded a “troublemaker” in her department right before graduation, closing off her original career path.

When their paths cross, Park Min Jae introduces Im Yoo Jin to the world of robotics — and in the process, the two quietly begin changing each other’s lives.

The New Poster

The freshly released poster captures the pair in a hushed lecture hall: Park Min Jae seated at the front, and Im Yoo Jin looking toward him with her hand raised as if mid-question. The tagline accompanying it reads: “Is there such a thing as a right answer when it comes to love?” — a fitting thematic anchor for a story about two people navigating uncertainty in both their academic and emotional lives.

A Director’s Legacy Project

Between Steps comes from the late director Ahn Pan Seok, known for helming beloved hits like Something in the Rain, One Spring Night, and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. Given his track record with slow-burn, emotionally grounded romances, expectations are understandably high for how this story will be handled.

Between Steps: Cast & Character Snapshot

The production team shared that their goal is to “capture the heart-fluttering excitement and relatability of the moment when love begins,” signaling a drama focused on emotional authenticity over dramatic plot twists.

When to Watch

Between Steps premieres on October 5 at 10 p.m. KST on ENA.
