Is Rajinikanth About to Turn His Own Life Story Into His Next Big Screen Chapter

He’s played a cop, a gangster, a robot, and a jailer. Now, reports suggest Rajinikanth might be preparing to play the one role he’s never attempted on screen — himself. Buzz is building around a possible film adaptation of his long-in-progress autobiography.

Rajinikanth ‘s Update Snapshot

What’s Actually Been Reported

According to Movies Singapore, Rajinikanth has been working on his autobiography for some time, with the book expected to cover major incidents, emotional milestones, and his path to becoming one of Indian cinema’s most iconic stars. The report adds that he’s reportedly discussed the idea of adapting it into a film with close associates — though nothing has been officially confirmed by him or any production house yet.

Why This Rumor Has Legs

A star of Rajinikanth’s stature turning his own story into cinema isn’t a small idea — it would be one of the most anticipated biographical projects in Indian film history. Given how carefully his team typically manages his image and legacy, any real movement on this front would likely be confirmed through official channels rather than leaks, which is part of why this remains speculation for now.

What’s Actually Confirmed on His Slate

While the autobiography film stays unconfirmed, Rajinikanth’s official lineup is packed. Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, arrives October 15, 2026, with a cast including SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan, alongside reported cameos from Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, and Vijay Sethupathi. After that comes Dharman, an action thriller from director Ashwath Marimuthu co-produced by Kamal Haasan, followed by an as-yet-untitled reunion project pairing Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on screen again.
