IPL 2025: Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda Face BCCI Scrutiny Before IPL 2025

IPL 2025: With the IPL 2025 mega auction just days away, a storm brews in the cricketing world. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has thrown a curveball by adding prominent names like Deepak Hooda and Manish Pandey to their suspect bowling action and banned players list, respectively. This development could shake up the auction dynamics, leaving fans and franchises pondering over the implications.

IPL 2025:Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda in Trouble? BCCI’s Big Moves Before IPL 2025 Auction

Deepak Hooda: The All-Rounder Under Scrutiny

Once a versatile asset for the Lucknow Super Giants, Deepak Hooda now finds himself on the BCCI’s suspect bowling action list. His inclusion comes as a significant blow to his chances at the IPL 2025 auction, set for November 24-25 in Jeddah. Known for his dual ability as a batter and an off-spinner, Hooda’s value as an all-rounder is now under question.

A Season to Forget

Hooda’s IPL 2024 performance was far from impressive:

• Runs Scored: 145 in 11 matches
• Wickets Taken: 0

Despite a career tally of 1,465 runs and 10 wickets, his dip in form and the suspect tag make him a risky pick for franchises.

Manish Pandey: A Veteran’s Unfortunate Ban

For veteran batter Manish Pandey, the news is equally grim but slightly less surprising. The BCCI has banned him from bowling across all formats, a restriction unlikely to affect his primary role as a dependable top-order batter. However, this ruling casts a shadow over his overall versatility. Known for being the first Indian to score an IPL century, Pandey remains a potential pick for teams focusing on batting strength.

Others on the Suspect List

The BCCI has also flagged:

• Saurabh Dubey (Vidarbha)
• KC Cariappa (Mizoram)

While Cariappa, a former KKR and RR player, still carries some franchise appeal, the suspect label could deter potential bids.

Implications for IPL 2025 Auction

The addition of high-profile players like Hooda to the suspect list sends a clear message from the BCCI about upholding the integrity of the game. Yet, this development could drastically shift team strategies at the auction table:

• All-rounders in Demand: With Hooda’s bowling abilities in doubt, teams may look elsewhere for reliable all-rounders.
• Pandey’s Batting Appeal: Despite the ban, Pandey’s experience could still make him a safe bet for franchises in need of stability in the batting order.

A Glimpse at the Auction Pool

The IPL 2025 auction pool has also been bolstered with names like Jofra Archer and rising stars like Saurabh Netravalkar. Archer’s likely high base price and Netravalkar’s impressive T20 World Cup performance ensure fierce competition.

The IPL 2025 auction will not only be about assembling squads but also about navigating the uncertainties created by the BCCI’s actions. Will franchises take a chance on Deepak Hooda, or will they pivot to safer options? Can Manish Pandey prove his mettle despite the bowling ban? Only time will tell.
