MS Dhoni had earlier hinted that IPL 2022 could be his last season and the franchise isn’t really sure about his future. A lot of assumptions were doing around that MS will pass on the captaincy responsibility to Ravindra Jadeja but as per CSK officials, no transformation will take this season.
During the 2021 title celebration, he expressed his wish to play his last IPL match at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. However, that’s has a minimum chance to happen since due to the Covid-19 pandemic, BCCI is planning to conduct the IPL 2022 in Mumbai and Pune and thus Dhoni doesn’t desire to commit to anything this season.
MS Dhoni to stay the captain in IPL 2022
A source informed that “See, you are talking about Dhoni, who has set examples after examples. He left the top retention spot for Jadeja and has been one of the first to arrive for CSK camp every time. He is fit, led the team to another title. Why would he retire mid-season? All of those discussions will take place at the right time. Right now, his focus is on auction,”
MS Dhoni is in Chennai at present to plan for the IPL 2022 Auctions and will remain there for one night. He is going to be present in the auction that will take place in Bengaluru.
Earlier, when the franchises were picking their retained players, MS Dhoni asked the owners to pay the first slab salary to Ravindra Jadeja and thus he slipped to position number two, accepting a huge salary cut. CSK also retained Moeen Ali for Rs 8 Crore and Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 6 Crore. Later, the franchisee will be targeting their loyal players like Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis. However, the franchise made no comment on this.
