The IPL match between DC and PBKS on Wednesday has been postponed from Pune to Mumbai due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Delhi Capitals (DC).
According to the BCCI’s most recent information, all Delhi players have tested negative and will play as scheduled on the 20th evening. The team, on the other hand, will be put to the test again on the morning of the 20th.
Match Shifted to Mumbai
BCCI declared in the official release: “From April 16th onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure. The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19th has returned negative. The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20th.”
The BCCI and the IPL GC decided this morning to move the match to Mumbai because the DC players are still in quarantine and unable to travel to Pune. If the match cannot take place on April 20 as planned, the IPL will reschedule it. On Tuesday morning, the Capitals’ group went through another round of testing. These tests have returned negative results.
IPL and Covid
The Delhi Capitals will play Punjab Kings on April 20 and Rajasthan Royals on April 22 in Pune, in a back-to-back series. The DC team, on the other hand, has yet to travel to Pune. Following the new development, there has been talking of delaying their next match, which is scheduled for Wednesday against Punjab Kings (April 20).
The schedule, however, remains unaltered, according to sources. The sources said: “We have not heard of any change in the program and the situation in the Delhi camp is manageable right now.”
An IPL official confirmed to PTI: “For a match to go on as per schedule, a franchisee must have 12 players available including seven Indians. If 12 aren’t available, then the IPL technical committee will take a call.”
