Match 37 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will definitely help you get rid of those Monday blues as Chennai Super Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals.
Both the teams have their backs against the wall as they’ll have to win all their matches to solidify their place in the playoffs. That being said, we might as well see the loser of the match potentially having their one foot out of the door towards elimination. The stakes, therefore, are high.
Chennai Super Kings is coming off a disappointing loss against the Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, is also coming off a disappointing loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Chennai Super Kings
CSK after much trial and error finally found a stable combination. They were executing all those plans in their last match as well, however, predominantly, their fielding cost them the game.
The team dropped four catches of Shikhar Dhawan, who went on to make a century and take the team through. There was a hint of bad luck as well as Dwayne Bravo got injured and MSD had to appoint Jadeja to bowl the last over against a left-handed Axar Patel who hit three sixes to get the job done.
Rajasthan Royals
Royals made another change to their opening pair as Robin Uthappa was finally given a chance to open. That paid off as he scored a quickfire 41 off 22 balls to maximize the powerplay. They had a minor collapse but were rescued properly by Jos Buttler and skipper Steve Smith who scored 57 off just 36 balls.
Their bowling attack started well and was doing decent as well. However, a tactical error seemed to have cost them the game. Many experts believe the penultimate over (19th over) is more important than the last over. But Smith handed the over to Jaydev Unadkat instead of Jofra Archer. AB de Villiers obviously was going to make the Royals pay for that as he smashed three sixes to get 25 off that over. Archer only had 10 runs to defend which he couldn’t do.
