Apple begins developing OLED panels without polarizers for its next foldable iPhone

Apple has reportedly begun to develop OLED panels that do not have a polarizer most probably for some upcoming iPhone models. What this means is that it is possible that the Cupertino-based giant is working on its very first foldable iPhone that will feature this technology.

Apple’s foldable iPhone to release by 2025:

This news arrives from TheElec who spoke to a few sources with knowledge of this matter. By removing the polarizer on the display, the panels become thinner which means that they will be suitable for a foldable device. Polarizers are used to allow lights in only certain directions to pass through. Though this improves the viability of the display, it has a negative impact on the brightness of the panel.

Samsung’s display division was the first to make an OLED panel without a polarizer, which was then implemented onto the Galaxy Z Fold3. This model is the latest from the brand so we can expect Apple to build its very own iPhone model as well. These are just rumors as of now, there is no official confirmation as we all know Apple likes to keep its secrets!

Apple has previously been in the news as it has been granted patents for a foldable device, in addition to this, analysts have also predicted that we can expect the company to launch its own foldable device by 2025. The development of such a panel years before its release seems plausible.
