iOS 17 introduces the convenient NameDrop feature, making it effortless to share contacts with others

During Apple‘s WWDC 2023 keynote, the company unveiled several enhancements to its AirDrop functionality, aimed at simplifying the sharing of information and experiences.

One of these enhancements is NameDrop, a new feature exclusive to iOS 17. With NameDrop, you can easily share your contact information with another iPhone user or even an Apple Watch owner by bringing your devices close together. NameDrop enables you to share your contact card along with specific phone numbers and email addresses you choose to share.

Additionally, iOS 17 streamlines the sharing of experiences through SharePlay. By bringing two iPhones together, you can utilize SharePlay to simultaneously watch a live stream or listen to a playlist with someone else.

Moreover, iOS 17 removes the limitation of staying within the AirDrop range while sharing files. If someone is sending you numerous photos or a large video file, you can now step away from the sender and continue receiving the content securely in full quality over the internet.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s SVP of Software Engineering, highlighted these features during the keynote presentation.
