The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus launched on March 26, 2026 with MSRPs of $299 and $199 respectively — genuinely exciting numbers for what these chips offer. But as per reports, retail pricing has already blown past that by 10–19%.

What You’re Actually Paying Right Now

The 270K Plus — the flagship of the two — is hitting $349 on Newegg and $357 on Amazon. That’s a far cry from the $299 that made reviewers so excited about it in the first place.

Great Chips, Unfortunate Timing

Here’s the frustrating part: these CPUs genuinely deserve the hype. The 270K Plus packs 24 cores (8P + 16E), matches the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K in several productivity benchmarks, and costs half the price. The 250K Plus rivals AMD‘s Ryzen 5 9600X in gaming while absolutely destroying it in multithreaded workloads — at the same price point.

Add in the new Binary Optimization Tool (iBOT), a 900MHz bump to the die-to-die interconnect for lower latency, and DDR5-7200 support, and you’ve got a genuinely compelling platform upgrade.

But the broader market isn’t cooperating. RAM prices are surging due to AI data centre demand, and Intel had already flagged an industry-wide price hike to partners. The Arrow Lake Refresh is one of the first lineups caught in that wave — arriving during what reviewers are calling one of the worst climates for PC component pricing in years.

Budget builders who were eyeing the 250K Plus as a $199 slam dunk are now being asked to pay $220–$249. It stings, especially since the LGA 1851 socket is nearing its end of life with Nova Lake on the horizon.
