How to Turn Off Suggestions on Instagram: A Step-by-Step Guide

Instagram is the world’s largest platform for sharing media and building connections. Many use connections on Instagram to promote their business and due to the diversity of the platform, it is to use it to increase advertisements. Now the social media platform has gotten its ability to search upgraded.  Users in six countries, including the UK, US, Ireland, and Canada, will be able to search the platform using keywords.

Previously search could only be performed using hashtags or accounts. Now Instagram will let people search the keywords themselves, meaning posts that feature something and a keyword related to that thing is entered, then it will pop up in the results. The algorithm used behind the keyword search feature is still not explained, and it’s unclear how it actually works.

A company spokesperson says, “several factors including the “type of content, captions when it was posted. find the highest quality content that’s relevant to you.” The social media platform had been previously limited to giving people the ability to find the posts they want. But now, anything is searchable using the keywords.

The company spokesperson has issued that “the search is limited to general interest topics and keywords that are within Instagram’s community guidelines.” For now, this feature is fairly limited to use and does not come up with many results. Even accurate results are hard to achieve. But if our guess is correct and knowing that Facebook owns Instagram, then the algorithm must be a ML type algorithm. As such, the search results are definitely to improve in the future. In the end, this feature is what the users had wanted for a long time, and it has finally arrived.
