INDW vs SAW U19 T20 World Cup final: India Women’s U-19 Dominate South Africa to Defend T20 World Cup Title in a Stunning 9 Wicket Win

A Glorious Start to India’s Title Defense

India’s chase of 83 runs was never in doubt as they strolled to victory, with 44 not out from Trisha and a solid 39 from her opening partner, Kamalini. The match had all the elements of an exhilarating contest, but India’s clinical performance proved why they are the best in the world.

Gongadi Trisha Steals the Show

The final was a testimony to Gongadi Trisha’s incredible skill and composure. Trisha, who had already been pivotal throughout the tournament, took charge with the ball first. Her spell of 3 wickets for just 15 runs was a masterclass in spin bowling, dismantling the South African lineup and restricting them to a meager 82 all-out in 20 overs.

Her brilliant contribution didn’t stop there. With the bat, Trisha’s unbeaten 44 was a calculated innings that took India home with ease. Her all-round performance was rightly rewarded as she was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament for her sensational contribution with both bat and ball. Over the course of the tournament, Trisha amassed 309 runs and took 7 wickets, cementing her reputation as a future star in women’s cricket.

India’s Bowling: A Clinical Performance

India’s spinners were the real stars of the show, especially Vaishnavi Sharma, whose 2 wickets for 23 runs helped break South Africa’s resistance. Sharma was also the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wickets, showcasing her skill and control in all the games.

South Africa’s innings was in trouble right from the start. India’s decision to open with spin proved effective as Parunika Sisodia struck early, removing Simone Lourens for a duck. This was followed by quick dismissals from Aayushi Shukla and Gongadi Trisha, as South Africa’s batters were left scrambling to build partnerships. Despite some resilient efforts, especially from Mieke van Voorst, South Africa never looked like reaching a defendable total, with India’s bowlers suffocating them at every turn.

India’s Seamless Chase

India’s chase was a stroll in the park. After losing Kamalini at 8 runs, the pair of Trisha and Sanika Chalke calmly guided India to the target, with Trisha anchoring the innings. The final was wrapped up in 12.5 overs, with India finishing at 84/1, confirming their dominance in the tournament.
