India’s independent gaming sector is transitioning from localized experimentation to developing titles for international audiences, spanning PC, console, and mobile platforms. This shift is highlighted by the inaugural cohort of LVL Zero (https://www.lvlzero.xyz/), a gaming incubator established by ChimeraVC in partnership with MIXI Global Investments and Nazara Technologies.

The incubator has selected four studios—Impulse Mechanics, YK Game Studio, Xigma Games, and Arckon Arts—from over 240 applications. These developers are focused on creating commercially ambitious titles across diverse genres, including sandbox simulation, satirical survival, real-time strategy, and large-scale multiplayer experiences, designed with global appeal in mind.

LVL Zero’s 100-day program provides its cohort with mentorship, operational guidance, publishing readiness support, and product development assistance. This structure aims to guide startups from initial prototypes to market-ready products.

Cohort Spotlights Ambitious Global Titles

Impulse Mechanics is developing *Mech It Happen!*, a physics sandbox simulation game where players construct machines to solve puzzles involving traversal, destruction, and mechanical challenges. Siddharth Gupta, Founder of Impulse Mechanics, stated, “Our design philosophy prioritizes fun, and we are learning how to scale that into a globally market-ready experience.”

YK Game Studio is working on *Chiklet’s Human Products*, a satirical reverse-farming game where players control animals farming “human products” through unique survival mechanics. Yash Kaushik, Founder of YK Game Studio, commented, “Our focus is on building games with a strong ‘X-factor’ – concepts that instantly grab attention while still delivering deep and addictive gameplay systems.”

Xigma Games, known for *The Bonfire* franchise, which accumulated over 10 million global downloads, is now developing *Metal Haven*. This sci-fi strategy title features base building, tactical combat, multiplayer alliances, and long-term progression systems. Himanshu Manwani, Co-Founder of Xigma Games, emphasized the studio’s global competitive aspirations: “The quality, polish, gameplay depth, and live operations all have to compete at an international standard.”

Arckon Arts, a family-run studio, is building *Stickman Infinite Kingdom*, an action-strategy RTS that combines cinematic stickman animation with tactical combat and narrative-driven gameplay. Dinesh Kumar, Co-Founder of Arckon Arts, noted, “Global distribution platforms are now open to everyone, and Indian indie studios finally have access to international publishers, console programs, and ecosystem support.”

Technological Advancements and Ecosystem Support

A common theme among the cohort is the adoption of modern development tools, accessible engines, AI-assisted workflows, and data-driven iteration models. These technologies enable smaller teams to develop sophisticated products more efficiently, reducing the need for extensive infrastructure. Founders within the cohort highlighted AI’s role in prototyping, balancing, production planning, and analytics, which accelerates development and enhances global competitiveness.

Sagar Nair, Head of Incubation at LVL Zero, observed the broader industry shift: “Indian indie studios are no longer thinking small. These founders are building with global player expectations, scalable systems, and long-term product thinking from day one.”

LVL Zero’s ecosystem partners, including Google Play, AppsFlyer, ID@Xbox, Gameramp, Lysto, and Sentient, provide integral support for publishing, growth, monetization, backend services, and market readiness. This comprehensive support aims to strengthen India’s emerging execution layer for game development.

As the Indian gaming ecosystem matures, the emergence of gameplay-first and globally scalable indie studios may mark a pivotal moment, positioning the country not solely as a consumer market but as a significant creator of internationally competitive gaming intellectual property.
