India will be playing against South Africa in empty stands after Cricket South Africa (CSA) issued a directive regarding this matter. South Africa has an increasing number of cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. No crowd will be allowed at Supersport Park. The players have to follow the strong instructions of bio-bubble. The Indian players are now in Mumbai, practising self-quarantine before travelling to South Africa.

As per media reports, Supersport Park hasn’t put out the sale of any tickets for sale with the South African Government. They implemented fresh protocols in wake of the Covid-19 threat. Following the Covid-19 restrictions, the government allowed 2,000 fans but now they won’t allow a single spectator. Some suite holders and delegates can watch the match live in Centurion. CSA will be giving further updates and waiting for the government’s directives regarding this matter. The India vs South Africa 1st test is scheduled to kick off on December 26, next Sunday.

The Indian team has arrived in South Africa and they have entered their bio-bubble space. Virat and his team has undergone quarantine in Mumbai before they reached South Africa. They have remained unscathed from the threat of the virus.

Pholetsi Moseki, CSA’s acting chief executive officer, said that the decision was arrived at after a lot of deliberation.

“We acknowledge the interest expressed by the fans and other stakeholders on being able to return to stadiums and want to assure all cricket fans that this decision was not taken lightly, but was instead taken in the best interest of the game and in the interest of the health and safety of all patrons.

The tour was in serious doubt, but South Africa and India has agreed to the tour maintaining some protocols.
