INDIA vs NEW ZEALAND: Team India’s records in Green Park, Kanpur

Team India will play against New Zealand for the first test at Green Park cricket stadium in Kanpur. This is the first match of the two days test series and it will be counted for the second cycle of the World Test Championship. The last time India played against the Kiwis was back in 2016 where India won.

Team India has always won every match at Green Park for the past 38 years. That’s a huge record. Last time the team got defeated back in 1983 against the West Indies. Since then, India has played eight Tests, being victorious in five of them. India consecutively won the last three Tests at this venue, for which this place is India’s favourite place to play. The two teams (India and New Zealand ) have played thrice at this venue where India won two matches but the first one in 1976 proved to be a draw.

India has to reselect the squad for the test series. KL Rahul opted out of the team because of his injury. India will have Shubman Gill and Mayank Aggarwal as the opening batsmen. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer will be considered for the middle spot, though the two Mumbai players will make their debut in the longest game format.

Last time in 2016 India won over New Zealand by 197 runs.

India’s squad: Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Jayant Yadav, Srikar Bharat (2nd wk) and Prasidh Krishna.

New Zealand’s squad: Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Latham (wk), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Tom Blundell (wk), Will Young, Glenn Phillips (wk), Daryl Mitchell, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Kyle Jamieson, William Sommerville, Ajaz Patel, Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra.
