Cricket is a team game

The newly-appointed skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his goal to win the championships. According to his philosophy, the individual runs or records matter less, the winning if the tournament matters the most. The same vision is shared by the Indian coach Rahul Dravid as well. Rohit Sharma was a part of the 2007 and 2013 T20I wins but he was also a part of T20i defeats in 2017, 2029, and 2021.

Selecting the right squad

Rohit highlighted the significance of picking up the right players and giving them the confidence to succeed. Kohli in his captaincy career under the guidance of Ravi Shastri has been alleged of not picking up the right players and not giving the potential players enough space. Rohit definitely wants to transform this.

Focusing on “inside matters more than outside”

Sharma wants to make sure that the inside ambiance of the squad is perfect. He believes that as a captain he needs to give perfect roles to the right players off-field. Further, he added, on-field very little can be changed so there needs to be extensive work off-field.

Being prepared for every situation

Rohit Sharma has made his team in IPL win 5 times. His team has always performed well under pressure. He wants his team to be prepared for the worst. In a recent interview, he stated “I want players to prepare for the worst, like 10 for 3 in the semi or final or in the group stage of ICC tournaments – what we will do – that is what we will prepare for that in next 1 year – how our middle order going to react”.

“Team first, then the captain” : Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma believes that in a sport like a cricket, players always come first and then the captain. A skipper should always back his players and give them confidence. He has been the most successful IPL captain winning the title 5 times.

With the new Head coach and new skipper, the fans expect Team India to have a spectacular performance in the coming matches.
