IND vs ZIM : As India gears up for the five match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting on July 6, there’s a fresh twist in the squad dynamics. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana as new additions to the team for the first two T20Is. These players are stepping in for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who are currently delayed in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl.

Let’s have a look into more details: IND vs ZIM

New Additions: Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana

Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana have been called up to fill the spots for the first two matches of the series, adding fresh talent and energy to the squad.

1. Sai Sudharsan

• The young left handed batsman has been making waves with his performances in domestic cricket and recently in the County Championship for Surrey. Sudharsan’s consistency and ability to anchor innings make him a valuable addition.
• He had an impressive stint with the Gujarat Titans under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, which should help in building chemistry on the field.

2. Jitesh Sharma

• A wicketkeeper-batsman known for his aggressive batting, Jitesh Sharma gets another shot at the international stage. Although he had a challenging IPL 2024, scoring 187 runs in 12 innings, this call up is a chance for redemption.
• His ability to score quickly and handle pressure situations will be crucial, especially in the middle order.

3. Harshit Rana

• Making his first appearance in the national squad, Rana is a promising fast bowler who had a significant impact in the IPL 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders. He was the joint second highest wicket taker for KKR, showcasing his potential as a future star.
• Recently, he was part of a conditioning camp at the National Cricket Academy, preparing him well for international cricket.

The changes in the squad were necessitated by unforeseen travel disruptions. Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were originally part of the squad for the first two T20Is. However, due to Hurricane Beryl affecting travel from Barbados, they will return to India with the World Cup winning squad before heading to Zimbabwe for the latter part of the series.
