India thrashed South Africa by 8 wickets in the 1st T20 match. Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul took away the spotlight after skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli got dismissed very early. In the first innings, Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar had dismissed the opponent’s top order early. South Africa posted a total of 106/8 but KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav made it an easy win.

India vs South Africa, 1st T20: Match Highlights

The men in blue were chasing a target of 107 runs. Though it was an easy-to-achieve target but the team lost its class batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli very early. KL Rahul and Surya Kumar Yadav came to the rescue, both hitting fifties. The former one scored an unbeaten 50 in 33 deliveries while the latter mustered an unbeaten 51 off 56 balls.

In the first innings, Arshdeep Singh got three wickets, whereas Deepak Chahar and Harshal Patel bagged two each. Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Chahar got the first over and took skipper Temba Bavuma’s wicket in the last ball of the over. Arshdeep Singh picked Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller’s wickets in the second over itself which was a major blow for the visitors.

Chahar again got the third over and dismissed Tristian Stubbs. Keshav Maharaj tried to uplift South Africa by scoring 41 runs that helped them cross the 100 mark, however, his efforts went in vain with the loss. India made changes in the playing XI, substituting Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yuzvendra Chahal with Deepak Chahar, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
