What Comes Next: IIM Shortlisting and Admission Process
With the **CAT 2025 result** now officially declared, the focus immediately shifts to the subsequent admission stages. The 21 IIMs, along with other top B-schools, will soon commence their individual shortlisting process for the 2026-28 academic session. The shortlisting is based on a composite score, which considers the CAT percentile, academic profile, work experience, and gender diversity.
Candidates who meet the sectional and overall **CAT cutoff** criteria for their preferred institutes will be called for the final admission rounds, which typically include a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). Aspirants with a high percentile, particularly those targeting the premier BLACKI group of IIMs (Bangalore, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Indore), should anticipate their shortlist calls beginning as early as the first week of January 2026. The Common Admission Process (CAP) for the newer IIMs is also expected to begin shortly after the new year.
