Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: There’s something quietly powerful about a women’s cricket World Cup being run entirely by women — on the field, behind the stumps, and in the officials’ box. The ICC just made sure that tradition continues, and it’s bigger than ever before.

History, Three Times Over

The ICC has announced an all-female panel of match officials for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking the third consecutive edition of the tournament to feature such a panel. What started as a landmark moment in 2023 has now become a standard — and that says everything about where women’s cricket is headed.

The tournament, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12, will feature 14 umpires and four match referees overseeing 33 matches across the expanded 12-team event.

Four Indians Flying the Tricolour

Indian umpires Janani N, Vrinda Rathi, and Gayathri Venugopalan have been named in the umpiring panel, while GS Lakshmi has been selected as one of the four match referees. Among them, Gayathri Venugopalan is set to make her Women’s T20 World Cup debut — a proud moment for Indian cricket officiating.

The Queen of the Crease: Claire Polosak

Veteran Australian umpire Claire Polosak, the most experienced official in the group, is set for her sixth Women’s T20 World Cup appearance, having already stood in 22 matches at the tournament. In a panel full of rising stars, she remains the gold standard.

ICC’s Promise in Words and Action

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta didn’t just talk the talk. He noted that the increasing depth of high-performing female match officials is a powerful marker of the sport’s progress, with their consistently high standards in bilateral series and previous ICC events underpinning these well-earned selections.

This isn’t just a selection announcement — it’s a statement. Women officiating the world’s biggest women’s cricket tournament isn’t a gesture anymore; it’s the norm. And as England and Wales prepare to host cricket’s grandest women’s stage, the people making the big calls will all be women. As it should be.
