I, Nobody Review: An Ordinary Man’s Fight Turns Extraordinary — Until It Doesn’t

Malayalam cinema just delivered another gripping actioner, and it’s got Prithviraj Sukumaran back in fine form. “I, Nobody,” directed by Nisam Basheer, hit theaters on July 9, 2026, promising high-stakes drama — but does it stick the landing? Here’s the honest verdict.

What’s the Story?

The film centers on Rajeevan, an ordinary government employee who witnesses a crime he was never meant to see. Falsely accused of a major bank heist and relentlessly pursued, he must use his combat skills to protect his family and fight back. It’s a premise built to explore how power structures crush the overlooked — until one of them fights back.

I, Nobody: Overview

What Works

The film begins on a high note, throwing an ordinary man’s fragile, dysfunctional family into chaos after he becomes the prime suspect in a bank heist, with tension steadily building until the interval.Prithviraj Sukumaran anchors the film with real depth as Rajeevan, a flawed character who handles each escalating crisis as best he can. The technical craft holds up too — Jakes Bejoy’s soundtrack once again complements the film’s survival themes and heightens the tension throughout.

Where It Stumbles

The second half loses the momentum so carefully built in the first, spending too much time explaining plot connections after the story’s initial intrigue has already faded. That pacing dip leads to a climax that doesn’t fully deliver on its early promise, even though the performances remain solid, and some VFX portions feel noticeably unpolished.

Conclusion

Despite an uneven second half and underwhelming conclusion, I, Nobody’s engaging storytelling, strong performances, and entertaining action still make it a worthwhile theatrical watch. Prithviraj’s commanding screen presence, paired with Parvathy Thiruvothu‘s composed performance, keeps the film grounded even when the script wavers.
